How to Get a Car Dealers License and Export Cars

3. If you are exporting through Canada or Mexico, you must submit the paperwork mentioned above a minimum of three (3) days prior to exportation of the vehicle. On the day that you declare on your export paperwork, the vehicle MUST be presented to the US Customs office so that they can verify that the car being exported is indeed the car described in the title document.
4. Be prepared for a thorough customs inspection and search of your vehicle before it is loaded into the shipping container, boat, or plane. If you are exporting your vehicle in this matter, both the vehicle and the title documents must be presented at least three (3) days prior to lading.
